How Insurance Works

Overview of New Census Bureau Data on Income, Poverty and Health Insurance Coverage

Fewer people are living in poverty. The percentage of people without health insurance
declined and the real median household income rose. These are some of the key findings of new
data released by the Census Bureau. Every fall, the Census Bureau releases three
reports that look at these key measures. Governments use this information to gauge
the social and economic well-being of our nation and make policy decisions.
